Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What condition do the caps and cups need to be in?
Caps need to be thoroughly rinsed and cleaned and if they have a meter liner in them, the liner needs to be removed before you send them to us. The only requirements that we have for cups is that they need to be the #5 polypropylene plastic cups and they need to be thoroughly rinsed and cleaned. When you package your caps and cups they can be combined in the same package, they DO NOT need to be separated.
How can I tell if my cup is the right type of plastic?
On the bottom of most cups you will see the recycle symbol with a number inside of it. That number represents what type of plastic was used to make that cup. We can recycle #5 polypropylene plastic cups.
How should I package my caps and cups?
As long as your caps and cups are clean you can package them however you like. You can even bundle your caps into plastic bags and we will be able to recycle the plastic bags too.
When you are combining your caps and cups be sure to try and stack your cups and or fill your cups up with caps before putting them in a container. This will help you make the most of your space.
How many caps does it take to equal 1 lbs?
It take about 200 soda bottle caps to equal 1 lbs.
Do you have any other methods for collecting the plastic?
Currently, shipping the plastic directly to us is the only method we have for collecting the caps.
We are currently working on developing partnerships with other companies that will allow us to provide everyone with a local drop off center in their communities. Please check back again for further development.
